How low of a standard is Bollywood?

Image
How low of a standard is Bollywood? A scene at a Police station from the web-series Abhay Season-2 released on OTT platform Zee5. On the police station wall, the sketches of criminal are pasted. Now, look carefully the circled image. Look Closely. You may have recognised him? If Yes, then your blood would have boiled of anger after seeing his picture among the sketches of criminals in the police station. If you still didn't recognised him, it's not all your fault it is our education system who are full of glorifying invaders, colonizers and congress. The Guy in the red-circled picture is none other than Khudiram Bose. Khudiram Bose was the youngest revolutionary freedom fighter who opposed British Raj in India. He was involved in the Muzaffarpur conspiracy and was executed on 11th August 1908 at just the age of mere 18 years. This kind of mistakes is not at all acceptable. And it becomes unforgivable when the director of this webseries himself is a Bengali. Even the writers a...

What was life like in British India?

Image
There was a good and bad side both to life under the British Empire in India. From a historical point of view a very good portrayal of this time is well illustrated by the life of my Great Grand Father, Baba Shib Dayal Bedi. His life would actually exhibit the rise of Indians who actually were successful in the period of the British Raj after the first war of independence in 1857. He was born in a small village in United Punjab in 1874. His father’s name was Baba Ulaas Rai Bedi. They were descended from the linage of Baba Laxmi Chand, Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s youngest son. They held land holdings in the Village of Pousi which had been present since the time of Emperor Akbar some 250 years before. They lived in an ancient walled house, with extended family. My Great Grand Father who was very good in Farsi and Indian history finished his schoolings. At the age of 16 his father and mother passed away from illness which the local Hakim and Ved could not remedy. We have long believed this w...

real life drug users downfall images....say no to drugs.

Image
The one thing I have always been scared about… okay, maybe ‘scared’ is too mild a word… let’s say ‘terrified’ about is   drugs . I grew up watching movies that showed youngsters getting addicted to it and how it is essentially bad at the end. This heavily influenced my overall attitude towards the very idea of any kind of intoxicants or mind-altering substances. And then in my early twenties, I realized that there are a lot of people who do drugs and still live a normal life. I was confused. Not that I considered trying it out myself… but I wondered if it was all a farce after all. Then I saw some photographs in a tabloid that made my eyes go wide in shock. What these substances do to our bodies is beyond comprehension. Look at the before and after drug usage/abuse pictures of celebrities if you want to see what I mean… Amy Winehouse Macaulay Culkin Lindsay Lohan Matthew Perry Whitney Houston And here are some non-famous faces… sans...

It was part of the wider Soviet famine of 1932–33, which affected the major grain-producing areas of the country. During the Holodomor, a compound of the Ukranian words “holod” (hunger) and “mor”(plague), millions of inhabitants of Ukraine, the majority of whom were ethnic Ukranians, died of starvation in a peacetime catastrophe unprecedented in Ukraine’s history. Since 2006, the Holodomor has been recognized by Ukraine and 15 other countries as a genocide of the Ukranian people carr...
